Celebration of the trees – an aromatic experience

Aromatherapy is a holistic therapy utilizing essential oils from plants, in the pursuit of wellbeing, spiritual, mental, and physical. Essential oils are volatile aromatic compounds that reawaken the senses and communicate with our souls.  They contain the life force of the plant and transport us to new dimensions.

Aromatherapy has ancient roots and its healing powers have been well documented for centuries. In the Bible, there are over 600 references to essential oils and/or aromatic plants Frankincense, Myrrh, and Galbanum are referenced 54 times.

In honor of T-bishVat, the festival of trees, we can experience the fragrant healing powers of many essential oils from trees of the bible. The tree is a universally recognizable symbol that represents many things, such as life, prosperity, strength. The ancient symbol of the Tree has been found to represent physical and spiritual nourishment, transformation and liberation, union and fertility.

The cedars of Lebanon were the most famous trees in all of antiquity. The healing aroma of cedar essential oil is strengthening and grounding.

The myrtle plant is a symbol of love and is the Hebrew symbol for marriage.  Its medicinal functions have been noted as early as 600 B.C. According to the Bible, it was used in purification ceremonies.  Emotionally, Green Myrtle Essential Oil is helpful in calming the mind, easing anxiety, and promoting restful sleep.

Ever heard of ‘Forest Bathing?’

This innovative programming is called Shinrin-yoku. Embraced across Japan & North Korea, Forest Bathing is the art of connecting people deeply with nature for positive health benefits.

Forest bathing or “shinrin-yoku,” which translates into “forest bathing” has been a decades-old Japanese tradition

A meta-analysis of 143 studies showed evidence that exposure to green space is associated with wide-ranging health benefits, including reduced diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, salivary cortisol, and incidence of type II diabetes and stroke. There has been researching on the ability of the phytochemicals from the trees to fight disease. As you walk through the forest, you will be surrounded by the trees which have healing powers They release antimicrobial essential oils, called phytoncides, that protect trees from germs and they also release terpenes that influence mood and have a host of health and benefits for people. The oils boost mood and immune system function; reduce blood pressure, heart rate, stress, anxiety and improve sleep and creativity; and may even help fight cancer and depression. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20074458

I challenge you to put down your electronics and immerse yourself in nature. As you listen to the sounds and the peace, you will be transported to another dimension.

Show yourself some self-love and visit a forest or go to a park and hug a tree! Tune into the forest’s frequency by slowing down, listening, closing your eyes to hear more keenly.  Close your eyes and hear the whisper of nature.  You will feel connected to a higher source.
